Annie is a native of Albion, Michigan, residing in the city of Lansing. She is a recently retired employee, with over 39 years of employment with the State of Michigan, Department of Treasury. Much of her tenure with Treasury has been working in the capacity as an Executive Assistant Supervisor. She managed the overall functions of an Administrative Assistants Team (of the Tax Compliance Bureau). Additionally, her responsibilities included coordinating the logistics of special conferences for Tax Compliance (including field offices in and out of the state of Michigan). She was instrumental in championing Treasury’s first Black History Month Programs (Inclusion & Diversity).
In February of 2021, Treasury successfully celebrated its Ninth Annual Program, which was favorably embraced by the current State Treasurer, past Treasurers, Deputy Commissioners, numerous Bureaus, and other state Leaders and colleagues. She was instrumental in the implementation and coordination of a Ribbon Cutting Dedication Ceremony for the First Black Treasurer, Loren Monroe, for the State of Michigan.
She served as the Vice President of a family-owned business (Smith Remediation Technologies, Inc. with her husband). Currently, she is the CEO and Owner of ANS Events, LLC. She received her BA degree in Management and Organization Development from Spring Arbor University.
Within the Southwestern Michigan Third Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, she serves in multiple leadership capacities as Hospitality President and Special Events Planner. Also, she serves with the International COGIC Hospitality.
Annie is actively involved in the Les Meres et Debutantes Club of Greater Lansing Alumni Association She graciously served as the Coordinator/Advisor for the 55th Annual Cotillion Ball, the local community's first "Virtual Experience Cotillion Ball". Currently, she serves on the LEDAA (Les Meres et Debutantes Alumni Association) Executive Board, the Board of Trustees (in her local ministry) to name a few.
She received numerous Leadership, Teamwork and Excellent symbolic recognitions from the SOM, Department of Treasury. She received the Member of the Year Award in December of 2019, Southwestern Michigan Jurisdiction.
Prior to the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, she humbly served the disenfranchised seniors in the Lansing community “Meals on Wheels” (through the Tri-County) and still have a passion for mentoring, motivating and “Bringing out the Best” in others.
